Fiddles (Adopted)

Species: Pearl Winter White

Estimated age: 6 months

Gender: Female

Likes: sleeping on her wheel, digging furiously in bedding and in her sand, food + snacc refills, being hand fed (literally. She likes it when you hold her food and she just eats), curling up to sleep on her wheel in a fetal position, fresh vegetables (broccoli, xiao bai cai, bean sprouts), Heinz potato, pumpkin and beef baby food, mealworms, and pine nuts

Dislikes: having to fight for food with her kids, her kids stepping on her face, her kids pooping in her tofu (her fosteror has photo proof) - she probably doesn’t really like her kids, hands in her cage

Fiddles’ journey with us started with her being heavily pregnant and later giving birth to five little pups. She was a dutiful mom and raised children who started fighting with her for food and space :-( She has since been trying to adapt to a calmer environment and undivided attention from her fosteror and is still wary of the peace and quiet at times.

You are looking at an intelligent and attentive hammo who really just wants to be babied! You can ALWAYS find her curled up on her wheel napping in a fetal position. When she is awake, she is extremely active and loves exploring and digging through bedding and her sand pit to release all her energy. She does like free roaming for short durations (max 10 minutes) when she is feeling restless!

She is hyper-alert and extremely sensitive to sounds and movements so it would be best if her new family can house her in a quiet area of the house. She is also cage-territorial and doesn’t like hands in her cage so her family can continue the taming process by inserting a cup/ hideout into her cage and lifting her out of the cage to interact with her in a neutral environment. She does tend to be overwhelmed in new environments and taming should be done slowly and in incremental steps. Her fosteror will definitely provide tips and guidance along the way :-)

Fiddles is also extremely fussy with her food (her fosteror has tried 4 different seed mixes with her and she isn’t drawn to a particular one) though she loooooves snacks and fresh vegetables. She is also offered fresh vegetables daily and baby food on alternate days to ensure she gets the appropriate amount of nutrition. She also likes to hold on to your hand while sniffing the snack hehe.

Fiddles is a strong and independent little lady that doesn’t need no man!! But she does need a forever family so if you are ready to show her the love that she deserves, she is waiting to hear from you 

P.S. Scroll to the last picture in the gallery to catch a glimpse of her taking a nap mid photo-shoot…. What a diva…..

Requirements

Cage: A non-barred cage is mandatory as Fiddles will use her boundless energy to monkey bar/ bar bite. Cages like the Savic Rody Cavia and Hagen Zoozone are fine but all holes/ openings need to be securely taped shut/ closed (she WILL bite on them). A samla/ glass tank would be perfect for her!

Wheel:
A non-covered wheel is highly recommended for her convenience as she loves sleeping on her wheel (examples: Sanko, Carno, Daisy wheels)
