Clay Information and User Guide:
Description: Clay was surrendered to the HSS because his previous owners could not find the time to care for him. Despite his name, Clay prefers not to be handled and spends his days snoozing or burrowing.
Water: To prevent Clay from drying out and cracking, keep him wet with freshwater every day. A water dish or a water bottle is recommended to keep Clay hydrated.
Nutrition: Bunny nature hamster dream expert for dwarfs or HSS recommended dwarf hamster food. Clay has not shown interest in a wide variety of sprays or proteins, but seems not to mind the occasional mealworm. Continue experimenting with nuts and seeds to see if anything catches his liking!
Storage: Clay likes to stay hidden from light and noise by burrowing. He likes to dig through Wittemolen sand, and his Oxbow pure comfort bedding. Any non-dusty bedding should work fine for Clay, as long as he is given a lot of it.
Avoid: Sudden movements, as Clay is easily startled, potential adopters should be patient and gentle when handling him. Clay prefers to be looked at and not touched, so potential adopters should note that he will take time to accept pats or hand feeding, if he decides to accept them at all.
Ideal environment: Clay should be left in a quiet environment away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of small children and pets.
