“So pretty!” – one of the most common things people say when they first lay eyes on Peaches. Nobody would have figured that she was found abandoned in a container of pee-soaked bedding and rotten vegetables in a lift.

But beyond the sad past and the good looks of this beautiful mother of 7 is a stubborn and determined personality that will try her best to get whatever she desires, be it escaping from her motherly responsibilities on the daily or avoiding being picked up or stroked. She may have raised her kids to maturity but bear in mind that she did it begrudgingly.

Now that she is free from her captors (her kids) and has her wheel returned to her, she stopped trying to escape her cage as often. Peaches enjoys a nice long stroll in her wheel, foraging for food and sprays, sleeping in corners of the cage instead of hideouts, and also finally being able to chuck her hoarded food out in the open without fear of it being stolen by her annoying children.

She is still learning that humans aren’t all that bad and that they often come bearing gifts of food, like pine nuts and sunflower seeds. With time, this beauty will surely blossom into a model hamster who is a joy to watch and handle.
