Fosterer’s Instagram:
Mochi was named because she is really round and really soft and also really white.
Initially she used to be super scared and will bolt at the sight of any hands that are coming near her, but over time she has gotten used to hands and knows that where hands are, there also TREATS will be! She is still learning and will gently bite fingers when trying to get the food, but she is getting better at recognising the difference between food and hands.
We also gave her a middle name Quokka because she seems to enjoy eating so much! When she holds her food and eats, she kinda seems like she is smiling like a quokka eating. She loves all kinds of food, sometimes she might not take it immediately from your hand but later on she might munch on it. Her absolute favourites are sunflower seeds and dried peas, which she will stuff into her cheeks immediately.
She loves running in her wheel, but she sometimes pees in it because she is enjoying it so much. (?) Checking on her wheel to give it a wash if you notice traces of pee pee is definitely a few things you need to do when you take care of this little mochi.
She also loves burrowing and because she is white, sometimes its hard to find her in her bedding (also white). Do give enough bedding for her to burrow to her heart's content and for her to feel safe in her home :)
Requirements:
Cage: unbarred cage with HSS measurement requirement
Wheel: non-wooden wheel with HSS size requirement (she pees on her wheel)
Bedding: as per HSS requirement (2-3 inches enough to burrow)
Food: as per HSS requirement
Enrichment: at least 2-3 ceramic hideouts, some chews/boredom breakers (eg. her favourite whimzees and dandelion roots), some sprays (if possible: flax, wheat or millet sprays)
