Major (Adopted)

Species: Dwarf

Estimated age: 1.5-2 months

Gender: Female

Likes: Whimzees, dandelion roots, Fatpouches seed mix, multiple tunnels, running on her wheel

Dislikes: Being disturbed while she is in her hideout, sudden movements

Major was abandoned with 9 other hamsters and found in a small carrier. When she first came under her fosterer’s care, she only weighed 25g, but she’s been gaining weight and getting bigger. As a passionate foodie, she eats most of the foods her fosterer gives her and now weighs 42g.

While she looks like a chill café go-er just enjoying her afternoon snack, Major is a feisty girl who will lunge at fingers. She has a habit of biting anything as a way of exploring. Because she is still skittish, she is a speedy ham who will hide when there are sudden movements. Her fosterer found that having lots of paper tubes will provide her with safe spaces if she needs. She alternates between her hideouts and tubes as her resting place.  Due to her tendency to bite, she is not recommended for families with young children.

Fret not, she is easily bribed with treats. Over time, she has gotten more familiar with the gloves her fosterer wears, and will willingly climb onto her hand for treats. She is very active at night, and can be seen zooming around her cage the entire time. She loves her Fatpouches Standard mix and sprays such as flaxs and millets. It will be good to have multiple paper tubes for her to travel around her cage in the day. Different types of chews will help keep her entertained.
