Guppy is an adorable lil hammo with the sweetest face! She has a lovely colour and cute lil red jellybean eyes. She’s a quiet girl who loves sleeping the day away, tending to only venture out of her nest at night to forage for food and run on her wheel.

When Guppy first came to HSS, she was very frightened and wary of humans. After a few weeks with her fosterer, she has warmed up to humans and willingly takes treats from human hands! She has recently taken a big leap of faith and started climbing onto her fosterer’s open palm! As with any hamster, her adopter will have to spend time building a bond with her.

Guppy’s favourite thing to do is run on her wheel! She spends most of her nights running away, stopping only to take a drink of water or have a nibble on some food. She’s a curious and active girl who loves exploring, so a large cage with lots of enrichment is recommended, especially since she’s a young ham with lots of energy! She loves her sprays, especially flax, and she loves sniffing and nibbling on scattered forage. Some of her favourite treats are pine nuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and tofu! She also enjoys fresh veggies and will check her bowl for veggies every night.

Guppy is not recommended for families with young children as she is super wriggly and hard to handle. She’s also small and really fast so she can easily wiggle out of your hands (like a little fish).

Guppy is a beautiful hammo, both inside and out. She’s quiet and timid at times, but she’s just as deserving of love and a wonderful home. She will thrive with a human that’s patient and loving, and who is willing to spend time gaining her trust!
