Lumos was rescued from an irresponsible owner where she shared her tiny home with over 18 other family members. Having developed a lump at some point of her young life, it was also her nickname of sorts until her fosterer took her in to get her the medical help she needed. Thankfully, it was quickly resolved as her lump was an abscess formed from an injury she likely received from other hamsters, and she healed from it on her own.

Given her very own space to grow and thrive, Lumos is now an active, energetic girl who might very well be a tiny puppy contained in a hamster body. When awake, she can be found zooming around her home and running marathons on her wheel. She is considering to audition for the next instalment of Spiderham: Into the Spiderverse, as seen from her parkour training climbing around her platforms and swinging on the vent holes of her home. As such, it is important that Lumos’ home must be securely lidded, and her new family should take care to ensure she does not injure herself from falls. When her energy is expended, Lumos will fall asleep around random spots in her home, curling up into the most adorable little ball that makes for precious photos.

Like the curious pup she is, Lumos will come to her door and put her little paws against it asking for walkies when a human is near. Being free-spirited she does not enjoy being grabbed or held, but she will gladly step onto hands for her free roam adventures. Her boundless energy often drives her to take the leap of faith, thus handling her close to the ground would be the safest for both Lumos and her human friend. With patience and someone who matches her energy, Lumos will brighten up the home and life of the lucky human who becomes her person.

Requirements

Cage: Minimum 90x50x50cm barless tanks (acrylic or glass) or Detolf. Secure lids are a must as she will set off on her own adventure if given any chance.
Wheel: 28cm hamster-safe wheels. For your peace of mind, silent wheels like the Niteangel acrylic wheel are excellent for zero noise levels even at the speed of light.
Sand: Versele Laga, sifted Wittemolen as Lumos can be slightly sensitive to dust from sand.
Bedding: Low-dust safe bedding like teabag bedding, sifted Oxbow/Kaytee paper bedding or Fatpouches/Bucatstate birch bedding with at least 15cm height to cushion potential falls.
Enrichment: 2-room or bigger multi-chamber hideout, accessories that allow her to climb (e.g. driftwood, cork flats/logs, platforms and safe ladders).
Diet: Rodipet/Fatpouches, Mazuri Lab Blocks and occasional supplementary mashes to help boost her weight.
Free roam or enriching playpen sessions are compulsory for Lumos.
