While Bonbon may be an older hamster, her bright eyes and super soft coat may convince you otherwise! She also enjoys backrubs and will groom and lick your hand while you give her a good massage, so it's a win-win situation. Bonbon is very sweet, and doesn't mind being picked up. Though it is not a daily occurrence, when she is feeling cuddly, she will come to the door of her cage to get attention and pets!
The saying goes that you can't teach an old dog new tricks, and Bonbon's fosterer is certainly learning that first-hand. Despite prolonged attempts, Bonbon is still not potty-trained, and will cycle through different peeing spots. However, if you are someone who spot-cleans regularly, this won't be an issue. Who knows? You might just be the person that is able to cajole this old lady into peeing in one place!
Another sign of this dame's stubbornness is her food habits. When she has had enough of the food in her bowl, she will pee in it in defiance! Bonbon is a hamster who definitely knows what she wants and expects no less from her caretaker. Despite this, she loves fresh food, and finishes her salad everyday, starting first with demolishing her portion of baby food and baby corn.
Bonbon is not like other hamsters. She suffered a fracture in her left hind leg when she was younger, and it healed in a strange position, with her foot facing outwards. She now walks on her 3 paws and the stump where her leg was broken (please see the IG Story Highlights above to get a better picture of what this looks like). She does not seem to be in any pain, and will willingly run on a wheel when provided, but it is not recommended that she is given one as the stump is prone to pressure sores. As a result, Bonbon needs a large barless cage without platforms and lots of bedding. Not only will a soft surface put less pressure on her leg, Bonbon also loves making burrows!
Bonbon also came to us with a fungal infection on her back and underside. After treatment, her luxuriously soft fur is back, but her future owner should take note that Bonbon struggles to clean the area behind her left ear due to her disability and make sure that it doesn't become overcome with another fungal infection. But due to this, Bonbon's favourite place to be scratched is that exact area!

Requirements:
Cage: barless cage, at least 80cm x 50cm in size
Wheel: no wheel
Bedding: unscented paper bedding, at least 10cm high in the cage. Wood shavings like aspen are not recommended due to the bare skin on her stump.
