Aegis is a very brave little boy. He isn't scared of human hands, and will go up to hands in his cage. He will even climb into your palm even without treats! However, he does like to investigate new things with his mouth to see if they are edible, but his nibbles don't break skin. If you feed his a treat from your palm, he will gladly use your offered palm as a table, and won't take the treat and dash off elsewhere. Aegis thinks human hands are simply fantastic food dispensers.

Aegis may be young but he already has so many quirks. He likes to perch on top of his round hideout and just think about life. He likes to sleep squished against a box and the side of his cage even though he has plenty of hideouts and bedding to burrow in. He does enjoy digging in both birch bedding and paper bedding, but why he doesn't sleep in his burrows is beyond us.

While he is comfortable with climbing onto a palm, Aegis does not enjoy being grabbed. He much prefers initiating contact with you first! You know he is interested in you when he runs up to your hand to interact. Aegis is most often awake near midnight, and runs on his wheel when not busy exploring and foraging in his cage. He loves his supper of fresh foods, and will often be waiting on the platform to receive it with a hearty appetite.

Though we are trying to inculcate good habits into young, impressionable Aegis, he is still not potty-trained, and can be picky with his food, He refuses to eat lab blocks, and sometimes won't finish his fresh food depending on his mood that evening. Even so, Aegis is growing steadily and enjoys his cage's many areas of interest thoroughly.

Will you be the one that sees Aegis bloom into the sweet boy he can be?

Note: It is not recommended that Aegis go to a family with young children as he can bite, which may alarm both the hamster and the child if they pull away instinctively,
