Kanzi (Adopted)

Species: Syrian

Estimated Age: 2-3 months

Gender: Male

Likes: Flax sprays, baby puffs, baby food, dried apple, sunflower seeds, burrowing

Dislikes: hands coming from above, being grabbed

Fosterer's IG: @choimoi_

Kanzi means "treasure" in Swahili, and this little boy sure lives up to his name! His fur is luxuriously soft and patterned in such a regal manner. As he is still young and small, large human hands are very scary for him, and he will bolt when approached too fast. However, he will take food from human hands, and once he is handled, gets used to the sensation quickly.

Kanzi's favourite pastime is eating. He isn't picky, and will eventually polish off his food bowl, even the dried herbs, which his fosterer is very pleased with. He also loves his fresh food supper that is delivered to him every night. As he is a growing boy, he needs all the nutrients he can get to get big and strong (and hopefully brave)!

When not nose deep in his food bowls, Kanzi can be found digging in his substrate. He prefers paper beddings to make nests with, but also enjoys a good dig in some aspen. He has recently taken to building his burrows in a shoebox in his cage. He prefers sleeping in his homemade nests compared to ceramic hideouts. However, he does enjoy the enrichment provided to him in the form of different substrates, sprays, and forage mixes. He also likes running on his wheel, of course.

Kanzi is slowly but surely learning to trust humans. Will you be the one to give him a taste of what a forever home is like?

Requirements:

Cage - Kanzi is currently staying in an Alaska cage. He used to climb the bars, but has mostly stopped. As such barless cages are recommended but not mandatory.

Bedding - Kanzi prefers paper bedding! Currently using Oxbow. Do give him a thick layer so he can make his burrows to his heart's content.

To note - Kanzi is not recommended to go to a family with young children as he can be jumpy and will not hesitate to jump from hands if he's feeling scared. His future family is recommended to handle him near to the ground and in an enclosed room.
