*Update: It has been 2.5 months since her profile was put up but Kira has yet to receive any adoption applications :-( If you are looking for a chill, fuss-free hamster to keep you company, she’s perfect for you! She does not require a lot of handling and interaction, but appreciates being given yummy snacks at night. Will dispel your fatigue after a long day at work by looking cute while munching! We hope that someone comes along soon and gives this girl a chance to live in a forever home filled with lots of love <3
Kira was rescued from a major hoarding case earlier in July. While most of those from the same rescue have already been adopted, Kira was placed under medical care due to her poor fur condition. Don’t worry, she’s all recovered and perfectly healthy now!
Kira was previously housed together with other hamsters and hence suffered a permanent injury on her littlest toe from fights. Despite that, she sprints around her cage like a champion and is not affected by that tiny scar at all! When she first came under her fosterer’s care, the fur on her back was very thin and unkempt. After treatment and lots of tender loving care, her appearance has GREATLY improved! Her fur is now thick and shiny after being treated for mites and being given sand to roll around in~ Her weight has also significantly increased after putting her on a healthy, well-balanced diet!
Kira has gained a lot of confidence and allows pats on her head now. She also willingly grabs food from her fosterer’s hands. While this may seem like a normal thing, it is a very big step forward from when she first came! It took her over one month to stop screaming at the littlest movements in her cage or when she was being picked up to be fed medication. Instead of cowering away in fear and screeching at the top of her lungs like before, she runs towards the source of noise and peers out in curiosity. She deserves treats in these moments because of how cute she looks! Her fosterer hopes that a sincere family with lots of love to give will take in this sweet little girl, she deserves all the love after everything she’s been through.

Cage: Unbarred cage of at least 2,800 sq cm
Wheel: 21cm
Bedding: Paper-based like Oxbow or Fatpouches teabag bedding
Sand: Wittemolen / Versele Laga chinchilla sand
Food: Currently being fed Fatpouches Premium and Standard mix (preferred but not required, Bunny Nature Dwarf Expert will work too!)
Enrichment: Lots of bedding to burrow in and ceramic hideouts to sleep in, sprays and forage
